About Nik Terry:
Real Grit. Raw Romance.

"I don’t just write action-packed, pulse-racing stories -
I live them."
Welcome to my world. If you’re here, you probably like your romance with a bit of a bite, your heroes slightly broken, and your heroines far too stubborn to back down.

I’m Nik Terry, an author of gritty, dark romantic suspense and British Motorcycle Club (MC) romance. Based in the North East of England, I write stories rooted in the soil I grew up in: places that don’t pretend to be pretty, where loyalty runs deeper than sense, and where love usually costs something.
From the North East to the MMA Cage
I’ve been writing since I was six years old (starting with a very dramatic series about a good goat and a bad witch). But as I grew up, I realized that life isn’t clean, and love isn’t always gentle.

I believe the best way to write a raw scene is to experience the adrenaline firsthand. That’s why:

-
I train in MMA (cage fighting): Because you can't write a fight scene if you've never felt the fear flood your chest or pushed your body past its breaking point.

-
I go where the stories live — to motorcycle clubs and biker spaces — listening and learning from real people to understand the found-family dynamics, deep bonds, and fast-paced culture that shape biker life and my characters.

-
I embrace the darkness: My research isn't done in a library; it's done in interesting places with interesting people.

When I write about fighters, bikers, and power dynamics, I don’t do it from imagination alone. I feel it in my bones.
My Inspiration: The "Bad Boy" Blueprint
My obsession with the antihero started long ago. Whether it’s the leather-clad snark of Spike from Buffy, the intensity of Reacher, or the complex loyalty in The Godfather, I’ve always rooted for the man who is flawed, scarred, and obsessive—but capable of loving dangerously hard.

I took that fascination and brought it to the UK setting. While many MC romances stay in the US, I stay true to my roots, bringing the grit of British organized crime and the Northern landscape to every page.
Life Behind the Pages
When I’m not stepping into the spaces that scare me or rocking up at a biker party, I’m a mum to two fierce daughters and a "slave" to one fat cat and four ponies. I live in the North East with my husband—a man who long ago accepted that a "quiet life" simply isn’t in my DNA.

If I ever do sit still, it’s usually for a hard-hitting action movie, a dressage event, or a well-earned glass of prosecco.
